How to put together your T-slot board frame

Mobile whiteboard stands and 5S shadow board frames all go together the same way: build two T-assemblies, then slide the bars in between.

Setup A: Board on the front

The board bolts onto the face of the frame. Skip step 8, finish with step 11.

Setup B: Board inside the frame

The board slides into the slots between the uprights. Do step 8, skip step 11.

What you're building

Finished T-slot frame: two uprights on feet with wheels, corner brackets, two bars, end caps

In the box

Per frame: 4 corner brackets, 16 screw, washer and nut sets, 4 locking wheels, 4 wheel nuts, 6 end caps

Per frame. The 2 bars come with their connectors already in both ends. Board nuts and bolts (setup A) or rubber strip (setup B) are packed with the board.

Build the two T-assemblies

Step 1: Corner bracket with screws, washers and nuts on loosely

1Prepare the 4 brackets

  • Put a screw and washer through each hole.
  • Spin a nut onto each, just 2 or 3 turns. Leave it loose.
Step 2: Two brackets on the bottom of the upright, one each side

2Brackets on the upright

  • At the bottom of the upright, slide a bracket's nuts into each side slot.
  • One bracket each side, flush with the bottom end.
Step 3: Slide the foot onto the bracket nuts, centre it, tighten

3Add the foot

  • Slide the foot on so the bracket nuts run in its top slot.
  • Centre it: the same overhang front and back.
  • Check it's square, then tighten all 8 screws with the 6 mm key.
Step 4: Wheel nut in the bottom slot, bolt and washer up through the wheel

4Wheels

  • Press a wheel nut into the foot's bottom slot, near each end.
  • Put the bolt and washer up through the wheel and into the nut.
  • Tighten with the hex key, reaching through the swivel. 2 wheels per foot.
Step 5: A finished T-assembly, make two

5Make the second T-assembly

  • Repeat steps 2 to 4 with the second upright.
  • You now have 2 identical T-assemblies on wheels.

Join them with the bars

Step 6: Both T-assemblies side by side with the two horizontal bars

6Lay everything out

  • Stand both T-assemblies up, side by side. Lock the wheels.
  • Lay the 2 horizontal bars in front. Their connector nuts are already in both ends.
  • Leave the end caps off the tops for now.
Step 7: Slide the bottom bar down to board height

7Slide the bottom bar down

  • Line the bar's connector nuts up with the uprights' inner slots at the top.
  • Slide it down to board height. Leave it loose for now.

8Board inside the frame: slide it inSetup B only

Step 8: Board slides down the inner slots onto the bottom bar
Step 8: Rubber strip squeezed into the slot on one side of the board
  • Slide the board down the inner slots until it sits on the bottom bar.
  • Press the rubber strip into the slot on one side of the board, along each upright.
  • Squeeze it in by hand, working along the corner where the sheet sits in the slot.

9Top bar, then tighten

Step 9: Top bar flush with the top ends, then tighten
Step 9: Connector nut slides into the slot, tighten through the hole with the 4 mm key
  • Slide the top bar down until it is flush with the top ends.
  • Measure: both bars at the same height on both sides.
  • Tighten each connector through its hole with the 4 mm key. Corner to corner equal means square.
Step 10: End caps on all six open ends

10End caps

  • Press an end cap onto every open end: 2 on top, 4 on the feet.
  • Unlock the wheels and roll the frame into place.
Step 11: Board nut in the slot, bolt and washer through the board

11Board on the front: bolt it onSetup A only

  • Hold the board up and mark where each hole lands.
  • Press a board nut into the slot at each mark: push in, quarter turn, slide under the mark.
  • Start every bolt and washer by hand, then tighten with the 6 mm key until the washers sit flat.

If something isn't right

Bolt spins, won't tighten The nut didn't turn. Back the bolt out, turn the nut across the slot, then try again.
Bracket won't slide on The nuts are too tight. Back each one off to just 2 or 3 turns.
Bar won't slide down Check both connector nuts line up with the slots and the connector screws are loose.
Board rattles in the frame The rubber strip is missing or not pressed fully in. Squeeze it in along the full length.
Frame rocks or leans Check both feet are centred (step 3) and both bars are at the same height (step 9).
